So, this Saturday I went downtown Raleigh to attend the Property Shop’s, “Home for the Holiday’s” home buyers seminar and day party. It was a great event hosted by on-air personality Brian Dawson, who’s also a homeowner and property investor. There were tons of free gems shared to educate a room full of aspiring homeowners.
Benita Scott is the Broker and owner of the Property Shop with over 15 years experience in real estate. After meeting so many people who were interested in owning a home this year she wanted to offer a seminar to help. “I wanted to host this event for people who may be on the fence about buying a home in 2019. If you weren’t able to get a home by the holiday’s this year, but its on the agenda, this is the event for you.”
Home for the Holiday’s was a laid back informational with a delicious brunch and networking social to follow. Guests had a chance to ask one on one questions with the panel which consisted of each vital piece of the home buying process. I was lucky to have an agent who explained the process and fees to consider upfront and this seminar completely educated the audience on aspects that first time home buyers could unintentionally plan poorly for. Guests included Marcus Bowman of Guild Mortgage, Daron Satterfield of Satterfield Law Firm, Howard Tomer of Hope Inspection and Dee Hughes of Mortgage Solutions. Other panelists included Karen Boone of State Farm and Jamie Nicholson, The Credit Surgeon. There was a chance for a Q&A with each panelist. But, I got a chance to pull Benita to the side for two quick questions as I’d gathered so much already in the informational on the home buying process.
What separates you from the competition?
Benita Scott - “I’m really hands on. Once you buy a house with me you become family. I’m really driven to get a person a house because for years I didn’t have one. So, my ultimate goal is to make sure people become a homeowner.”
What’s the most important question to ask when looking for a real estate agent?
Benita Scott - “You want to find someone who actually knows the market. I work with a lot of first time home buyers that may feel like they can’t buy anything. So, you want someone who’s willing to hold your hand so to speak and understands the market well enough to help you find what you’re looking for.”
