D.L. Hughley To Host Master Growers "Juneteenth" COVID-19 Special Initiative
Sparked by the brutal murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other unarmed black citizens, generations of systemic racism has been brought to the national forefront and forced The United States to take a long hard look at it’s ugly history. All of this unrest during a global pandemic has heightened the strife. Generations of systemic racial injustice has caused a detrimental uproar in society, having a global pandemic being added has heightened the strife. African Americans are being infected and dying of COVID-19 at highly disproportionate rates. This deadly virus has impacted communities of color immensely due to underlying health, social, and economic disparities During such difficult and trying times, it is imperative that we unite to impact positive change. Master Growers has made a commitment to be apart of that change.
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. We are honoring this day, by hosting a "Juneteenth Social Awareness - Thon" 6/19/20 at 3:00pm EST /12:00pm PST. Our host, D.L Hughley will be joined by LIVE by on-air radio personalities, community activists, DJ’s and surprise celebrity guests in an effort to raise money, awareness, and resources to combat the spread of COVID-19 and propel the conversation on black empowerment and education.
The goal is to raise funds to mass produce and distribute ½ MILLION bottles of hand sanitizer to disenfranchised communities during the live campaign. Due to lack of supplies and resources in many inner city communities, African American’s and minorities are being infected and dying of COVID-19 at an incommensurate rate. The virus is primarily spread by droplets and hand-touching. Studies have shown that hand sanitizer is effective in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Master Growers is committed to assisting affected communities in stopping the spread of the virus by supplying bottles of hand sanitizer. Composed of clove, rosemary, lavender and antimicrobial essential oils, the unique blend is more beneficial than the standard hand sanitizer as it moisturizes the skin, while also protecting the hands from germs.
"We just can't sit on our hands and watch our communities suffer. Health and safety shouldn't differentiate based on color or economic status.
