Building on the increasing worldwide focus on health and wellness, gthx - a first-of-its-kind mobile application that inspires the social practice of gratitude - debuted in the App Store on November 21st in time for Thanksgiving. gthx was founded by civic leader and entrepreneur Omar Brownson and artist Glenn Kaino, with former leaders from the Oprah Winfrey Network / HARPO / Oprah Leadership Academy for Girls including Robyn Miller and Mpumi Nobiva. They are joined by recognized ambassadors actor and activist George Takei and UCLA MARC's Director of Mindfulness Education, Diana Winston.

Inspired by centuries-old methods of expressing gratitude, gthx digitizes traditional practices using an easy-to-access mobile platform. With gthx, users will have access to over 100 Gratitude Guides, designed and curated by world-renowned gratitude gurus, wellness experts, and spiritual leaders. Whether they are gratitude ‘novices’ or experienced practitioners, users will have the tools to not only learn gratitude, but to express their gratitude towards others in a simple, fun, and fulfilling way, right from their phones. The app is currently available for iPhone users in the US and Canada, with an Android version to be released soon.

“I spent my career in real estate and public infrastructure trying to build the world I want to live in. Seeking to become a better dad, husband and human being, I fell into the practice of gratitude,” says Omar Brownson, co-founder and CEO of gthx.  “Gratitude, the practice of noticing good, transformed my life - so much so that last year, I left the world of bricks and sticks to transform hearts and minds through the practice of gratitude.”

“Creativity and art have the ability to make meaning, and to focus a lens onto our daily lives, making previously unseen ideas, issues and people visible. When I connected with Omar and began a conversation about gratitude four years ago, we realized together that gratitude makes good visible,” says Glenn Kaino, co-founder and artistic director of gthx.  “It was a natural step for us to build something together, furthering our commitment to service, to our communities, and to our world.  gthx was the platform that we envisioned to try and make a difference.”

Gratitude rewires the brain, starting with your heart. Gratitude is a social emotion, and emotions are mental shortcuts. With the practice of gratitude, you can create faster paths to joy and happiness.
