More and more people are making the transition into a vegan lifestyle, which research states the unique benefits and healthier lifestyle. It is a plant-based diet containing plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds. A factor within a healthy vegan diet is that you’ll be receiving plenty of vitamins B1, C, and E. Becoming a vegan can reduce the risk of mortality from different types of life changing conditions such diabetes, some cancers; like prostate and colon cancer and also the possibilities of a stroke. Vegan diets are naturally known to help weight-loss and will help you maintain a healthy heart. Studies have shown that vegan diets usually provide more fiber, antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds. Other studies have shown that those who transition into becoming a vegan may reduce their risk of poor kidney function. It has also been proven that the vegan diet can supply you with a complete relief of systemic distal polyneuropathy; which is a condition in diabetics that causes sharp, burning pain. This is a very effective way to control your blood sugar levels and prevent any further medical issues.

According to the “World Health Organization”, one-third of cancers can be prevented by factors that are self-controlled. Researchers say that eating at least seven portions of fresh fruits and vegetables per day will lower your risk of dying from cancer by 15%. As a vegan, your diet generally contains more soy products. Another major benefit to becoming a vegan is that they may benefit from up to a 75% lower risk of developing high blood pressure. Compared to the general population, vegans also tend to consume more whole grains and nuts, both of which are good for your heart. The bottom line is the diet will help avoid specific risk factors that contribute to detrimental heart disease.

I went out to conduct some research of my own, on some benefits of becoming vegan. Annie Scarborough said that, “becoming a vegan has instilled more energy into my body to be able to be more productive throughout the day”. She compared to when she consumed animal-based products, especially things such as dairy products which had a negative impact to her daily production. Eliminating those types of things from your diet can also help acne/skin. Annie also talked how another huge benefit of becoming a vegan is removing the cruel parts of the agricultural industry. However, she utterly didn’t negate the fact that there are still some human rights issues that needs to be addressed in the plant-based food industry. Ms. Scarborough said “I’m an environmentalist and I firmly believe based on research that it’s the most sustainable diet if you are in a situation where you’re comfortable doing it, but any incorporation of plant-based meals into your own diet is still a positive step in the right direction. Annie has been a vegan for 3 years and throughout her journey of veganism she has seen tremendous change in her overall lifestyle.

Based on the extensive benefits of becoming a vegan, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter have offered lifetime tickets for fans with a more plant-based diet. The couple partnered with “The Greenprint Project” to launch this vegan movement, which encourages people to switch to plant-based diets in order to help the environment as well as yourself. This idea was brought to them by Marco Borges, who is an exercise physiologist whose recent book's foreword was written by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The winner will be selected on May 22nd and they will receive a ticket to one concert per Beyoncé or Jay-Z tour for "LIFE," which the fine print defines as a maximum of 30 years.
