RushHour Cosmetics Founder Launches UV Wand Collection to Combat COVID-19
COVID-19 has caused many creatives and innovators to start thinking outside of the box with their new ideas. These ideas include items that are in high demand during the global pandemic. Shari Thomas, founder of RushHour Cosmetics created and recently launched a UV sanitizing wand.
In the midst of the pandemic, Lysol, hand sanitizer, and various types of antibacterial wipes are in high demand. When businesses begin to re-open after being shut down for over a month, Shari wanted to find an inexpensive way to keep estheticians safe upon returning to work but also keep others safe during times as well. Her biggest concern was supply and demand for face masks and finding a way to sanitize and reuse them. After the proper research and several trial runs, Shari discovered that several industries use UV lights to kill up to 99.9 percent of viruses and bacteria on multiple surfaces including cloth. Cosmo Wand is a portable handheld sanitizing wand that uses UV light to sanitize masks, keyboards, phones, and more in less than three minutes.

Business Mogul: As an entrepreneur who has created a product in the midst of a pandemic, how important was it to you to create this particular type of product?
Shari: The beauty industry was hit hard during COVID due to closures which had an impact on sales. My goal was to thrive during COVID, so after seeing concerns about mask shortages I knew that there was a need for this product. Doing the proper research and reaching out to the right specialist was key to the production of The Cosmo Wand.
Business Mogul: Please talk to us about the importance of creating a product and/or service that will last in various types of economic crises.
Shari: A lot of businesses suffered during COVID and as a result closed. As an entrepreneur, it's important that you constantly pay attention to what is going on in the industry and evaluate your business. During COVID, we released the Cosmo Wand, but also to show support for Black Lives Matter, we released our Pretty N Power Palette. These pieces are timeless and it's our way of communicating with our consumers that we are here with our community during these times.
