Trap Music Museum Celebrates Women in Music During Women’s History Month

Trap Music Museum presents the “Honor Roll” series during Women’s History Month which will celebrate various women and their contributions to the hip hop and entertainment industry. The Women’s History Month exhibit is set to run from now until March 31st.

The exhibition highlights women in each decade from the 1980’s - 2010’s. There will also be a class of 22 women who will be honored with their photos in the main gallery. The class of 22 will feature the following women:

“As a team, of course we knew we were going to celebrate Women’s History Month but we wanted to be sure to do it right! So highlighting women who work behind the scenes alongside the artists was our main focus. From there the “Honor Roll” came to life. Highlighting generations of label execs, stylists, engineers, producers and of course the artists. This helped us creatively educate our audience on rap culture!”⁃ Brittney Jarrett Neal, TMM Project Manager

“It’s important for us as women to uplift and support each other full circle. Telling our stories is an inspiration, not just women but people in general. We are excited to celebrate and honor these ladies through a creative lens.”

Celebrating the superpower of being a woman is very important. From our intellect to our creativity! Researching the history of women in rap specifically, was probably my favorite part of this process. Learning how pivotal women were back then goes to show how much of an impact we have on the industry.”

“Trap Music Museum tells our own narrative through visual arts and music. It’s important for people to know the strides and contributions of women in HipHop.
Our exhibition is a vivid timeline and representation of their journey from the beginning of hip hop to where we are now. “ ⁃ Adlia H. Silvera, TMM Art Curator
