mo·gul

Noun - meaning a very powerful and influential person in a business or entertainment industry. Power derived from experience and skill, not popularity.

When Dr. Sheria D. Rowe set her mind to developing the Business Mogul platform, she had no idea that it would take off as quickly as it did. After only a few months, moguls across the country have been recognized and pertinent updates on businesses and leaders have been shared through the digital publication.

Dr. Rowe is a Business School professor. During her transition into higher education, she opened a small boutique public relations agency, called DRowe Enterprise, where she has managed actors, Olympic athletes and more. But, she wasn’t done there! “I have also written two novels (White Collar, Black Pumps) that highlight some of my personal experiences from corporate America into a drama series.” Many of our readers understand that one way to become a Mogul is having multiple streams of income and not being afraid to take risks. Looks like she has consistently proven that dedication to craft is vital to success.

Dr. Rowe carefully planned the official launch party for the digital platform to be an engaging experience for professionals from all backgrounds. Upon arrival to the event, guests were serenaded with smooth sounds by jazz sensation Rah BC. The celebration of business & culture was presented by Craig Insurance Group, Small Cakes Carolinas, Zaxby's and Jack Daniel's making the overall experience a success! And, with the help of M. Jordan Events, the day ran efficiently. Not only was there mental stimulation from the Master Panel discussion, your taste buds were enticed with signature cocktails sponsored by Jack Daniel's, a dessert bar provided by Virtuous Delights, custom cupcakes sponsored by Small Cakes Carolinas, and a photo booth provided by Snap in the City.

The positive energy and networking that flowed through the room was refreshing and business professionals from all fields connected in ways they may have not expected. But, if you missed the cover reveal this past weekend and still need clarity on what the Business Mogul offers, let’s jump into the interview with the founder herself!

What is the Business Mogul?
Business Mogul is a digital publication that provides the latest news and resources in business, technology, money/finance, and culture/lifestyle.

Where did the inspiration for the Business Mogul come from?
I'm a lover of everything business. I wanted to create something that can connect business and culture while being a resource for entrepreneurs, small business owners, industry professionals, business students, etc. Business in my inspiration!

What makes this platform different from other digital publications?
Business Mogul is a multicultural publication. We're not just focused on one demographic but several. We will also begin to offer workshops and resources to assist future business moguls; we're all about growth.

What about this platform is most important? How does it support business professionals?
The ability to be a vital source for everyone. Part of our mission is to support professionals; whether they're at the start of their business career, C Suite level, or entrepreneur. As stated before, we will offer workshops and provide resources for business professionals.

How are you merging the celebration of Business and Culture with Business Mogul? Why is this important?
In a multicultural community, merging business and culture is important. Because business is global, I'm hoping that Business Mogul can be a bridge that connects that gap. It's important for business professionals to understand various cultures and be able to connect with them.

How often will issues release?

Business Mogul will release quarterly, with the first issue releasing Spring 19!

What is your professional background?
My professional background started by working in the corporate sector. I was a corporate accountant for about 6 years before deciding to resign. I left that industry to pursue my higher education career, which I am a Business School professor and department chairperson. During my transition into higher education, I opened a small boutique public relations agency, DRowe Enterprise. I have also written two novels (White Collar, Black Pumps) that highlight some of my personal experiences from corporate America into a drama series.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of Business Mogul. This has been an idea of mine for a few years but have always placed it to the side to help others with their ventures. I woke up one day and told myself, I have to get this idea out of my head and make it happen...it's a necessity. Since the day I filed business ownership and made it legal, everything has fallen into place. That has made me proud, especially with how many people it will reach and help change lives.
